Hy Dck54, the transmission looks like a fully synchronized Saginaw three speed from a mid sixties up GM car or truck. The rear axle is a "twelve bolt" GM originally from a coil sprung truck I believe. There really is no need to support the back of the transmission with this setup, unless you experience a vibration when driving, hope that helps.
