Thanks for the response. I have the ball installed in the fork, and have been able to get the ball stud through the hole, but I haven't been able to get the threads started, both in and out. I did fashion an alignment tool with which to align the stud in the hole, but haven't been able to get that to work. Tomorrow is a new day...and hopefully a bit warmer.
The reason I'm in this mess is because I didn't properly install the ball in the fork from the git-go. Had I done that, it would have been a piece of cake to put it in place.
