I have to admit, I can't feel the highs and lows as well as I'd like. I usually use Klean-Strip wax and grease remover to clean the metal surface before painting ect.... I have even used lacquer thinner to wipe down new metal that has been very oiled before. Seems to remove the oil film faster. Then clean it with wax and grease remover then.

Have you ever tried it with a thin jersey glove? It makes no logical sense to me why it works, but I was amazed at how much better I can feel the high and low spots with one.
