Don't have my books but the LS-1 came after the LT-1 and I believe it started in about 98 but don't quote me. They have been putting them in everything from trucks to Corvettes. They are light weight, computer controlled and are almost indestructible. Just get the whole package when you pull one to include the trans and computer. Power is 325-400 hp. I would not be afraid of one with over 250,000 miles on it. Buy a wiring harness from a reputable vender, have them flash the computer (generally free and takes 30 sec)to rid yourself of the back oxygen sensors and theft control and plug and play.
