The old stock headlight switch on my AD shorted out when I turned it on first time after rewiring, so I ordered one of those new so-called replacements.
I got the repop wired up and working all right, but the threaded fitting that holds it to the dash is PLASTIC, and the threads got stripped just screwing it in.
Now it falls right out without too much help.
The nut looks just like a brass fitting for copper tubing, except that it's chromed plastic. When I tried to get a metal piece to replace it, the local NAPA couldn't find a match.
Jim Carter sells cleaned and checked-out original equipment but is out of stock, so I'll look around the local boneyards for a used switch.
The replacement might serve as a back-up with the right fitting. Has anyone ever found a fitting that would work?
