After repairing and painting the springs, I used new jute burlap material to cover them and look like original. Next I cut a section of heavy-duty house type carpet a little less than the length & depth of the seat bottom. This gave some structure to tired springs and made a great foundation. Next layer I used about 1-2 inches of polyester batting similar to original cotton. To top this off, I used a one-inch layer of foam, letting it drape over the front edge several inches. The seat cover was stretched very tightly over this. I used the same method on the seat back except did not use the carpet. This made a very attractive, comfortable and solid seat.
