I have little information on the Little Giant hoist. I do know that it was made in Peoria, IL in the teens and 20's. If they ever made a hydraulic unit I have never seen one and doubt they did. Even Anthony and Heil made mechanical dump devices during that time and hydraulics can many years later. What this thing amounted to was a hand crank winch attached to a frame mounted post at the front of the body and lifted by chains or cables attached to the body. The dump angle wasn't too much so I am not sure how they handles packed dirt or clay. There is little info on the manufacturer or how long they survived but it was built by an outfit named Steinke Bros. in Peoria.
The name Little Giant has been applied to many products over the years and is currently seen on TV as a multi-use ladder system. Seems all the products involved manual power such as jacks, ladders, the hoist, etc. I personally haven't seen it used with any electric, air or fluid powered products tho' there may be some.
It would also appear that it's value is as scrap only.
