the width might fit "modern dimensional lumber" because there's a space between boards, although finished lumber isn't the same as it's nominal label .... and never heard of a box that takes exactly 8' long planks, be either a bit less than 8' as Denny says, or the later long beds are a bit over 8' [98"]
