I am getting ready to make my second attempt to install my new rear window glass and gasket on my 52 Chev 3800. I tore the gasket on my first attempt. The new gasket is from Steele so I understand they are a good quality gasket.
I have read several posts/items pertaining to installing this window. One post stated that the window was never meant to be installed using the rope method and was to be installed using plastic tools to move the gasket over the pinch weld, and others showed the rope being pulled from inside the cab and another from the outside of the cab in the truck bed. When I tore the first gasket is was using liquid soap for lubricant and pulling the rope from the outside in the truck bed.
Would appreciate advice from some who have successfully installed this window and which method is correct. Thanks
Jim
