I think GM offered a 15" and a 17" for the the 3/4 ton truck. You hit the nail on the head for the difference between the 1/2 15" rim and the 3/4 ton 15" rim: you go from a 6 bolt pattern to a 8 bolt. So with the the bigger bolt pattern you need and bigger AND deeper hub cap.
