I might not understand you question, so here is a bunch of information.
1954/55-1st hub caps have clips. I do not know about 55-2nd and later - I do not know when they stopped using clips (55-2nd Task Force seems a good guess).
I think that 1954 15" and 16" 1/2 ton wheels have clips and use the same hub cap (my dim memory is that I swapped these around about 15 years ago).
However, the 1954 1/2 ton truck accessory stainless steel full-wheel cover only fits the 16" 1/2 ton wheel (this makes sense).
15" 3/4 ton 1954 rims should match 53 3/4 ton 15" rims. I know nothing about what hub caps will fit a 15" A-D 3/4 ton rim.
It is interesting that many of the specs for 15" 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton rims seem to be the same, but it seems the hub caps do not match (reported above by nak1954):
