Anyone have a plan for an overhead gantry that could be used for lifting engines, cab/car bodies? Any welding books with a gantry as a project?
I'm just thinking of something basic with a horizontal I-beam for the load and either beams or tube uprights for support. It doesn't have to be adjustable in height; if it was about 10 ft. it would work with my shop's 12 foot ceiling.
I have looked on this site and elsewhere on the web without finding anything. I can find pictures of homebuilt ones and arguments as to what I-beams/structural components to use, but no proven plans.
