yeah, as Tim points out, the gear oil comes in plastic containers with a spout, works fine for top ups or complete fills, how many times do you plan on doing this? likely has never been drained and filled in it's previous 50 years - if your really fussy about a mess, the Quick Lube places can clean it out for you with a suction machine and refill with a pump, done for your lifetime
