OK, I have a '46 2-ton with the original 235. I'm having issues keeping exhaust manifold gaskets in it. It has been suggested that I fully remove the manifold and check to see if it's warped. I plan to do this next week.
Now the question; if the manifold is warped, would I be better off to have it machined flat or should I look into headers for dual exhaust? This truck was bought to use, so a little extra power could be helpful and I have heard that headers can help with gas milage too. My concern is that getting more power from an engine that's nearly 70 years old might not be good for the engine.
I know there will be expenses in adding a dual exhaust system, but if I have to do something with it anyway, now would be the time.
