I'm starting to think it's the sending unit.
*New 12v guage
*new wiring
*original sending unit
But I had this question, Does the sending unit itself have a ground, or is it grounded to the tank? When I restored my truck there was only the one wire coming from the unit going to the guage.

I could have avoided all that trouble if only I had remembered to...
