Hi - I took apart my windshield, cleaned, blasted and repainted the frame and now want to reinstall the (original, maybe) glass. It had a bit of rust damage but was salvageable - the link bars were unusable and it had a few rust throughs in the inside channel on the bottom. I por15'd the channels to hopefully prevent the frame from continuing to rust.
I bought setting tape (1/32) from chevs of the forties and d-day is approaching for glass reinstall.

Anyone have helpful hinds to make this as painless and cheap as possible? I have made a paper template in case I break it, and have read it described as putting socks on a rooster.

I have read to use the thinnest setting tape and lube it up with wax remover first, then tap I with a wood block and rubber mallet to sit in down. I have also read to not use setting tape at all but hockey or electrical tape which I would think wouldn't seal (not that I'm planning on taking her underwater).

Any opinions/pearls on putting socks on this rooster?
