I still don't see how the ammeter would ever show charge if you wired the single wire to the starter, thereby bypassing the ammeter. All of the load except the starter and the output of the charging system should go to one side of the ammeter and the battery, by way of the hot wire on the starter, should go to the other. If you wire the single wire alternator to the battery, the battery side of the ammeter will alway be more positive than the load side, thereby always showing discharge. Tell me where my logic is flawed, please.
