It has to do with voltage under load. 7.5 is more than enough. Batteries also have tolerances. The 8 volt battery in my ton and a half has been in there for 3 years getting regular service and its a 2 year battery. Bummer... 2 year battery? Tractor Supply doesn't have a lot of faith in its batteries.
