You need the Runtz because it is a solid state voltage reducer...not a resistor. Because the dash gauge...your fuel gauge for example runs on just a quarter of an amp and a resistors trypically have a 40 percent
varation in voltage depending on the electrical load that is a lot to a gauge that runs on just a quarteer of an amp. By contrast a Runtz is a solid state device that puts out te correct voltage regardless of the electrical load. Thanks Randy
