Are the standard transmissions on these trucks designed to be removed with the engine/driveshaft in place? Surely they are, but I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to get the clearance needed to pull it out. I put this driveline together before the cab was on so it wasn't an issue before; now that I have the cab on I have to take the transmission out to change the clutch fork and possible the throwout bearing because I have way too much pedal travel before the clutch engages.

Does anyone know what the correct throwout bearing is (dimensions or part number) for an Art Deco truck with a later 235 swapped into it? I'm using the 216 bellhousing, flywheel and starter. I got a clutch kit from Bowtie Bits but I can't remember whether it was for a 216 or 235. I don't even know if it matters if these engines have the same outside dimensions. It seems like I need a longer throwout bearing, though, to get the pedal travel right. Also I think the fork could be too worn.

Just one more problem I have to solve on this fun project. computerdeath
