I suppose it depends just how worn the hinges are Marcus,but the idea of the brass bushes is that they then become the 'wear' surfaces rather than the pins themselves.
Initially I wasn't going to use them but in the end i'm glad I did.

Bear in mind it's taken your hinges 60+ years to get the state they're in so I imagine it'll be a long time before they would need rebuilt again.
