Marcus,i've just been through this using the LMC pins on my '50,like the guys say most hinges have considerable wear after 60+ years.
Rebuilding them with the oversize pins and brass bushes worked well for me and the drivers door now latches with a satisfying clunk.
Just a point though,replace the springs while your at it too,they're cheap to buy and make a big difference.
Like yours the passenger side was much better so I opted to leave it alone for the meantime.
