Wiring up my 61-261 fresh rebuild on a test stand and left the coil wire connected to the battery for a couple of hours but did not start the engine. Found that the newly purchased coil was so hot you could barely touch it. The wire from the battery to the coil was noticeably warm and the wire from the coil to the distributor was room temp. The coil is 12v and has an internal resistor. I'm wondering if this is normal and if I ruined the coil. Thanks for any comments
