Have a 62 GMC Suburban 4 spd with dana 44 rear 3:53 gearing. Planetary gears blew up, thankfully no damage to the ring, pinion or bearings. Want to improve Hwy cruising a bit. The rear in the 62 has the octagonal cover and my 60 has a round cover. The 62 also has a posi unit in it that I couldn't find info on. Most of what I found was the cast open carrier. This has a cylindrical housing for the disks/planetary's with a flat cover with bolts. you can see end of the pins of the planetary gears in the side. pictures on facebook. What would be a good ratio to use now? 265/75/15 tires. THANKS!
