Looks like I'll be cruising to Macungie in my Suburban with a "new" Holley AA-1 carburetor on my 261 (thanks to Rob English and a rebuild by Larry Isgro).

It started right up, after we fabricated the fuel filter before the fuel pump and the fuel-pump to carburetor line, and the throttle rod (by my friend, Dave - he's got the golden hands), and the intake-base heat-plate tubes from the Fenton headers.

Anyone who says a heated intake is not needed is deluding themselves. The aluminum two-barrel-carb to one-barrel-intake adapter was cold enough to condense moisture on the outside during the first few minutes of running.

I'll be taking this apart to clean things up and to apply Calyx Manifold Dressing. After reassembly and connecting the choke/throttle cables, the air cleaner needs to be cleaned and painted.

Then, I'll install more seat belts and I'll be ready to head to Macungie on Thursday morning, 13 June.
