Are there supposed to be two different block drains on a 1956 235 on the driver's side of the block: one at the back near the bellhousing and one underneath the exhaust manifold outlet? I have what looks like a former drain hole in the rear location that was filled with some sort of filler that wants to weep a little. I have been wondering if I should drill out the filler and tap it for a 1/4" pipe plug or petcock if that's the way it was to begin with.
I found another threaded hole underneath the exhaust manifold outlet with a 3/8" bolt in it. When I took the bolt out coolant gushed out of the hole. Was this hole also to be used for the accelerator pivot (bellcrank) on certain models since it has bolt threads and not pipe threads? (Obviously the bolt needs sealer on it.)
Do the oil holes in the bottom of the rocker arm shafts need to go down when assembling the shafts. That's the way they were before I took them apart to clean them. I just want to make sure this is right.
