I had this same issue when I was sorting out my 59. It turns out the pedal/MC system did not have a return spring, so the MC piston was not returning all the way. Also, the manual specifies 11/16 clearance between the seal in the floor and the pedal link. You will find an eccentric bolt with a cotter pin nut that makes a pretty slick adjustment method under there.
