On my 46 kept all original 216 bellhousing, flywheel and starter, been running with 12v over 20 years, no problem. But you cannot mix any of this stuff with the later 12 volt parts, not compatable with old stuff. You can go with ALL later items. I kept the old stuff for the foot starter which will never fail like a solinoid will.
