you can install a new harness anytime, with a fully functional truck is best cuz you can keep checking as you go, replacing each section as the old is removed .... any of the vendors will have good kits, might not want to go the absolute cheapest, but also no need to spend a bundle, the stock 49 wiring is simple and straight forward
