All the thermostats have holes in them to let air pockets out. I could understand/deal with even a 10 degree overshoot, but my fathers truck has spiked to more than 240 degrees before! Then, of course, it quickly cools to 180, say maybe five to ten seconds. Seems like a great way to ruin good heads to me. My other truck has a good thermostat in it, climbs up to 180 and stays within five degrees or so. A 180 degree thermostat allowing temps to spike to 210+ degrees for absolutely no reason is unacceptable, IMO.
