yes the alternator regulator should be different - the original style regulator's are still available for the 12V generator - I'm sure all the repro suppliers will have'em, or if you've got an auto elec place around that's got some older techs, or one that works on farm equipment sometimes, ask there - the local guy here has'em on the shelf - NAPA might have'em listed too
