way back I traveled thru Cali with friends in a 55 International panel - once I got us thru the lower insanity and over the Grapevine, I let a less freeway experienced bud drive and crawled in the back to snooze, telling him to wake me when we got closer to the Bay area - he got pulled over by the CHP for going too slow in the left lane, just got a lecture, but I drove from there on
as said above, just keep right and you won't have a problem, everybody will notice the old truck and cut you some slack
