You can see the interior of the speedometer here - http://rustyfiftyone.com/gremlin-hunting/ - there is a tube around the high beam bulb to isolate the light. If the gauge face doesn't sit flat, which it never does, light from the speedometer illumination will make it seem to light up. | | |
