Now that our awful So Cal winter is over it's time to get back on the Good Karma truck.
64 Panel The goal this summer is to make it drivable....you know, litle stuff like starting, idling, stopping....
It took the best part of the afternoon to get the truck started and back around to the back yard. Won't stay running, idle way too high,popping out the carb,one foot on the brake the other on the gas just to keep it moving!
My first guess was the crank timing's gotta be off, so pulled the entire front off the engine, including the radiator and fan shroud, water pump, harmonic balancer, and timing cover, to get to here-
Timing marks( and they used some really small 12 point cheapo chrome timing cover bolts that were a real bear to remove)
Yanked the distributor cap off, pulled #1 plug, turned the crank to align the marks.......and found nothing. The marks on the cam and crank align right up at 6 and 12 o'clock, then one turn of the crank so both marks are at 12 o'clock and the rotor is dead on #1.
I really hoped to find something wrong, that would explain a lot, so now I gotta put all that stuff back together and look elsewhere
Crappy carb? Too big lumpy cam? Vacuum leaks? Weirdness in the MSD distributor?
