IIRC, the only condenser is in the dizzy. You've probably got a resistor on your coil; it does go onto the ignition key side.
Do you have a 12v or a 6v system? If it's a 6v setup, then you don't actually need it. If it's 12v, you do. It will help your coil last longer.
