Over the last few days I have been rebuilding my rear quarters on my 58 Panel. Unfortunately, they were rusted out and replaced with aluminum flashing and rebuilt with long strand filler. Here is a sample . And Here is another.
I cut out the openings from some step side fenders and welded them in with rocker replacements. Now it looks like this and like this. I haven't installed the fender stay to hold the front of the opening in closer to the frame. I think it is pretty close, but by the time I cut everything out the new panel was hanging in space. I carried the line back from the door and tried to compare the positioning to some pictures. I hadn't found Stovebolt.com yet which has some good dimensional pictures. I also am concerned that where it wraps under behind the rear wheel it is not the right shape. Any feedback from people who look at this shape often? Of course I won't be entering any contests with it!
