I have a 1957 235 engine that has the water pump mounted in a hole in the front of the engine block. The engine is going in a 1953 AD 1/2 ton truck. Originally when I rebuilt the engine, I shortened the shaft on the water pump and pressed on a pulley from a 216 external water pump. I see where they say this is a no-no. It turns the water pump to fast this way. Question, what was the original size pulley used on the 1957 engine? I wondering why I couldn't machine the 216 hub and remove the pulley and add a larger diameter pulley to it.
thanks John | | |
