I was at the Mecum auction in January and spoke to the Kelly Blue Book representative.
He stated that actual auction prices determine value of these old vehicles. The prices are based on condition and whether or not they sell. Some sellers have high reserves that aren't met. In this case the high bid helps set the value even though it didn't sell.
After my discussion with the Kelly Blue Book rep, I would use their guide.
