My friend (55 **** club sedan) had the same problem.
Vibration (no fire luckily) but he had his drive shaft rebuilt ~$200 and needed a new output shaft that he found in a junk yard resonably.
Getting it apart will be hard since it probably welded itself together but keep us posted on what you find after dis-assemble.
