Certainly can, the electrical contacts can corrode just sitting
and oxidation is non-conductive. Simply disconnect one of the
wires and chech continuity with a multimeter. If it well key
the multimeter it will key the stop lights.
If you need one they should be avalable for not to much from
the old truck vendors and your FLAPS might even have one or be
able to order one.
