52MH I like your idea of adding a 9 foot bed, this is what I'm working on also on my 48 GMC FC253, check out my photo's, in the gallery of my truck, (I'm not sure how to make the link) added some of my plywood mockup, maybe this will help? I don't have any current but did a plywood mockup of one side. I'm working on making a dually pickup, didn't want to have widened fenders as my preferance is that the fenders get too wide when covering both wheels. Since these photo's I've have bedsides fabricated, (will get pic's soon). I added 6 inches to the width of the bed, had to fab new cross sills to do this. Also added 3 inches of height, will have to make a new front panel as well as a tailgate to make this work. Also have a bend just in front of the fender so that the bed will be correct width at the back of the cab, and running boards need a bend added. None of this is stock so have to do it all but... 16 gauge 24 1/2" x 108" at local steel supplier under $56 each, had them formed at local fab shop and 6 stake pockets and he charged $100 to do this. There is another thread here on welding tubing on the top to give the rolled edge. Alot of work but making progress on it. Will post photo's soon of progress and when complete.
