Over the years Bart the body’s shift from abuse, accidents happen, floor boards rust out
and are replaced, etc. Also as you said you switched cabs and just like a Christmas
cookie, even though they were made with a cookie cutter, it don't mean each one is gonna
come out of the oven looking exactly the same.
First off you've got to make sure you've got good cab mounts. As I'm sure you're aware
of, the 1948 cab used a single center rear mount which was replace in '49 and there after
by the double shackle mount. If these were not properly located it could cause the cab to
be a little to high in the rear causing the gap you see. Also it's possible that the frame
could have been bent in an accident. Either way you can shim the box at the frame to
bring it into the correct alignment. If it’s low by an inch then a 1/32” shim should bring it
right up to snuff.
