I'm working on a 1950 Chevy 3600 with a 216 cid straight six. My problem is that I've lost 2 condensers shortly after starting the engine. The first time I can't explain, the other may have been caused by a spark plug wire that I left disconnected that may have arched on the distributer body, damaging the condenser. My question before i start going through a ton of condensers is, what could cause a condenser to go out? And, how could my loose spark plug wire theory be true? I've always thought condensers are much more durable than that, or at least somewhat resiliant to that. Well anyway...whatever info you guys can give me would help.
