Howdy All ---thought I would pass on some info I just verified. Some of you may already be aware of it but since I have seen it incorrectly stated numerous times, here is what I have found out regarding '41 -'52 1.5 ton rear axle ratios.
The "Standard" gear ratio offered was 6.17.
The "Optional" ratio was 5.43.
The above is taken directly from a period Chevy repair & parts manual I just bought and is the exact opposite of what I have always been told as well as what I have read online many times & places.
Just thought I'd quote the official source to clarify. It also explains why I have had no luck (so far) trying to locate a 5.43 set.
