As stated 710 is listed as a 1960 color with 727 as the 1961 color but your theory of early 61(actually built in 1960) may well be correct. Sounds like a cool project anyway. These old K10s are few and far between and very neat. You might check and see if the build sheet is in the seat or the protecto plate is in the glovebox and see what they say for the color code.
