I've posted a question dealing with this before, but today I came across a new idea and wanted to run it past all of you... the rubber lines from the oil filter to the block on my '55 235 engine need replacing (they finally broke off the threaded ends... yes, they're that dry). When I went to the parts store today to see if they had anything similar (figured I'd try them before ordering any online), the guy started talking about using a steel line with a rubber hose clamped in between, but what about replacing the lines with steel lines? As far as I understand it's your typical 235 oil filter (not sure if it was a stock option or not) that bolts onto the intake manifold. Since the filter is bolted right to the engine, why can't steel lines be used? Since the lines will be kinda close to the exhaust manifold and pipe will this boil/burn the oil running in the line, or will it not be a problem? Have I overlooked anything else? Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks!
