My '65's gas gauge quit working and after removong the unit from the tank, I found that a brass strap of sorts had broken in a factory bend. This "strap" is a conductor and I just soldered it back together and now the gauge works fine. I know of two units where this has been the problem. Hope this helps. Jim
My 65 sending unit has that problem too. The PO must have found it. This pic shows his added wire rigged up for a "fix". I think the solder repair sounds better. Is the wire fix in the photo dangerous?
