I would appreciate any advice.
The 235 that we transplanted into the '51 GMC just ate it's second starter (foot pedal activated).
The engine itself runs well, and I was just lowering the idle when it gave a terrible noise and we shut it off.
It seems to me that the starter is not fully disengaging from the flywheel after starting the engine, so when the engine revs it "over revs" the starter. Make sense?
Is this a starter, engine, or installation issue? BTW, neither starter was new or rebuilt, so they could have just been old & worn.
I'll be buying a rebuilt/new one today.
