When I purchased my 65 C10 Custom Cab Fleetside the previous owner had bought an extra motor and transmission and threw it in with the sale. I check the casting number on the block (3896944)and determined it was a 283 from 1967. Is there anyway to determine specifically what type of vehicle the motor came from (i.e: Truck, Nova, Chevelle, etc)? The motor has a generator and not an alternator. I thought I had read somewhere that the alternator replaced the generator in 1965. I am getting ready to sell the motor and transmission and I'm trying to gather as much information on it as I can.
