The school I worked at had an older Chevy with the 216 in it. Ran well, and never let us down for many years after I left it was still on the road.
When the school auctioned it off it was still running.
The supt of the school had two old 40 Chevy sedans with the 216 and they also purred right on down the road.
I had a 50 Chevy pickup with a 216 that was running fine but did use some oil. I was going to rebuild it when I came onto a GMC 270 for 1/3 of what it would cost to rebuild the 216. But I wouldn't have boggled about using the 216.
